Hunter Reports
Nathan – Mountain Goat Hunt – Alaska
Jack,
Greetings from Utah! I trust you and Cindy are doing well and that hunting season is providing you with an adventure or two. You always help me set up wonderful trips and I hope you are occasionally having the opportunity to go on one yourself.
This past week I was back in Alaska with Kelly and Linda. As always, the goat hunting was fantastic and I was able to tag a nice Billy just as I had hoped. The weather cooperated, Kelly and my guide Jeff were great and every detail was taken care of. It is not an overstatement to say that you really are helping to make my outdoor dreams come true and I feel very blessed to be able to experience them.
As I look to the future, I am excited about my Brown Bear hunt with Kelly next year. With regards to 2016, I am excited to be able to finally go after Cape Buffalo with Grant that year. When I shared with Scott D the details of my safari in Mozambique, he expressed a desire to learn more about it. While I don’t think he is in a position to go as a hunter, there is a chance he could save up enough funds to accompany me as an observer. Knowing Scott, he would just have fun being there and experiencing the hunt vicariously through me. While I know it is early, whenever you think the right time would be to approach Grant about this it would be great. I am still hoping that we can do the hunt sometime the last two weeks of August, 2016 knowing that I would need to leave after the 15th of August and structure the trip to only be away one Sunday.
It is also good to know that I have my Stone Sheep hunt booked for 2017. This mountain hunting bug has bitten! Thanks again for all of your help. Have a great weekend and I will talk to you soon.
Regards,
Nathan
P.S. — No, I didn’t center punch the goat. He was standing almost straight away looking to the left so I shot through him on a diagonal and fortunately he didn’t break his horns after he fell off the cliff. What a ride!
