Hunter Reports
Greg Fitzgerald – Zimbabwe
Keith,
Yes, we had a very successful hunt with Brent in the Bubye Valley Conservancy. We were able to collect each of the species we had planned and took some very nice trophies. Attached are a few pictures. Matt did well on a 55” Kudu and a very nice Waterbuck. My Cape Buffalo and Eland are trophies I’ll be proud of forever. Even my wife, Theresa, enjoyed the hunt. She took over 1000 pictures and a couple of hours video. We were fortunate to capture a leopard on video as it crossed the road in front of us. Saw many Rhino and Elephants and even a few lion. The staff, trackers and skinners all were excellent. Theresa became accustom to having her meals prepared and laundry done each day…I’m still trying to get her back to work now that we are home! The only drawback to the entire trip is the travel. That 36 hours of travel from Bulawayo to Midland is brutal. Also, we very much enjoyed the history of the Bulawayo Club and spending a day there; however, you were right, there is nothing much to see in Bulawayo. Our next trip will not include a stay in Bulawayo.
As for another trip, we would like to start considering maybe a leopard/Sable hunt. When you have time you might send us some information concerning where would be the best place for this combination and how far out we would need to book, as I understand Mazunga is sold out for the next few years. We are probably a couple years from another trip…got a big taxidermy bill coming up as well as two kids in college next year!
Thanks for all your help, we couldn’t have done it without you. – Greg Fitzgerald
