Bighorn Sheep – Alberta

This is done from main and spike tent camps located in zone 434.  The sheep population is currently very good and you can expect to see sheep everyday.  In the last several years clients have had 100% opportunity on legal rams.  Our kill rate currently stands at 80%.  4/5 curl rams are generally considered legal size.  The 15-day hunts are conducted from horse back to get from camp to feeding/bedding areas quickly.  It is not unusual to see several rams together and when a ram that is huntable presents itself you will most likely proceed on foot.  It is a good idea to be in the best physical condition possible.  The hunt and the weather can sometimes be demanding.  There have been several instances where the hunter has not had to walk more that a couple hundred yards but this should be considered the exception.  You limit chances of success by not being able to walk/climb.  Top quality optics is a definite asset.  (Guides are supplied with high power spotting scopes and binoculars.)
